Top 5 Wednesday is GoodReads group where people discuss different bookish topic each week. This week, the Top 5 Wednesdays topic is Top 5 urban fantasy books.

I’ve read quite a few UF series so this is going to be a mix of series and stand-alone books. I had a really hard time narrowing the list to just five but here goes:

1, Toby Daye series by Seanan McGuire
This is an UF series focusing on the Fae with several different fae races. Toby herself is a changling, with a fae mother and a human father. She’s a private investigator in San Francisco and a knight in the fae world. The first book is “Rosemary and Rue”.

2, Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
Set in London which has a mysterious and magical underworld.

3, Vicky Nelson series by Tanya Huff
Vicky is a former police detective but now she’s a private detective in Toronto. She encounters all sorts of classical monsters in her job. The first book is “Blood Price”.

4, Dracula by Bram Stoker
I reread this classic a few years ago and it was still good.

5, Jesse James Dawson series by K. A. Stewart
Jesse is a modern-day samurai and defends humans against demons. He’s also happily married. I’m shamefully behind with these series and need to read the newest books. The first book is A Devil in the Details.
