Do you ever crave reading crappy books?

That would depend on the definition of crappy. If you mean a whole genres of obviously bad books whom no thinking man would ever read, such as fantasy, science fiction, and detective stories, then yes. I read them all the time.

However, if you mean individual books with, for example, bad plots or wooden characters or unconvincing setting, then my answer is a bit different. I don’t intentionally seek out such books but I might read them from time to time. Bad plots, for example don’t necessarily bother me as long as the characters are interesting and vibrant. On the other hand, certain things in settings, especially in SF and fantasy, bug me enough to leave a book unfinished. However, to some other people those same books might be good or great, so it’s hard to condemn them as “crappy”.

And yet, I enjoy Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Barsoom books which are as cheesy science fantasy adventures as you can get.
