Booking Through Thursday

Last week we talked about the books you liked best from 2007. So this week, what with it being a new year, and all, we’re looking forward….

What new books are you looking forward to most in 2008? Something new being published this year? Something you got as a gift for the holidays? Anything in particular that you’re planning to read in 2008 that you’re looking forward to? A classic, or maybe a best-seller from 2007 that you’re waiting to appear in paperback?

I’m actually eagerly anticipating every new or reread book. Otherwise I wouldn’t be reading them! But some highlights are:

Well, my plan to reread Brust last year fell through so I’m probably going to try it again this year. Since it’s likely that I’ll have a lot more happening in my life this year than last year I’m just going to try rereading the Khaavren romances-series starting with the Phoenix Guards. I’m also looking forward to reading Michelle West/Sagara’s books which I’ve been collecting for a read through, VanderMeer’s Shriek: an Afterword, and Veniss Underground. Oh and McKinley’s Sunshine, and Spindle’s End, and…

I’m not so knowledgable about new books so the only ones I’m really looking forward to are Lois McMaster Bujold’s new fantasy the Passage (which I’m hoping that I’m going to like more than the two previous books because hopefully this one isn’t going to have a starting romance as the main “plot”) and Steven Brust’s new Vlad Taltos book Jhegaala.

On the non-fiction front I’m looking forward to reading Jared Diamond’s Collapse: How Societies Choose to Collapse or Succeed and Guns, Germs, and Steel.
