I live and work in Finland.
I’m a long-time fantasy reader but I read other stuff, too, such as mystery, sci-fi and thriller books, comics, and even manga. When I read, I focus on the characters and the settings and the writer’s overall style. My favorite writers are Lois McMaster Bujold, Steven Brust, Anne Logston, Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Naomi Novik, C. J. Cherryh, Neil Gaiman, and Elizabeth Peters. In comics I adore Sandman, ElfQuest, and Girl Genius. I’m also a long-time X-Men and Avengers fan and read other superhero comics, too.
On TV I love MacGuyver, Buffy, Farscape, Star Trek TNG and DS9, Babylon 5, Xena, the new Battlestar Galactica, Numbers, Criminal Minds, Bones, House M. D., Heroes, Fraiser, Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Seinfeld.
I’m a translator and my working languages are Finnish and English. I’ve translated five books into Finnish although most of the time I translate or proofread factual texts. I have an MA with a Major in English translation and Minors in General History, Finnish, General Literature, and Philosophy.
Book’s I’ve translated so far:
Fritz Leiber’s Swords and Deviltry
Roger Zelazny’s Nine Princes in Amber
Roger Zelazny’s Guns of Avalon
Elizabeth Peter’s Crocodile on the Sandbank
Lois McMaster Bujold’s Shards of Honor

Hi there! Stumbled in from the Top Ten Tuesday meme over at The Broke and the Bookish and it seems like we have a few things in common (besides our fondness of MacGyver). For instance, I’m a translator too, though not literary. Looking forward to following your blog!
