The topic for Top Ten Books today is Top Ten Books I Read That Were Outside Of My Comfort Zone .
1, I am Legend by Richard Matheson
I don’t usually read horror much but this one I really enjoyed.
2, Dracula by Bram Stoker
Another horror classic which I ended up really enjoying.
3, Black Company by Glen Cook
Fantasy is one of my favorite genres but not when it’s gritty and dark. This turned out to be way too dark for me and I listened only a few chapters.
4, Mystic and the Rider by Sharon Shinn
While I love fantasy, I’m not a romance reader. However, I liked this fantasy romance well enough that I read the next couple of books.
5, Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling
I also don’t usually read YA. I read the first Potter book so see what a lot of people were talking about but I haven’t felt any urge to read more of them.
6, Knots and Crosses by Ian Rankin
I read mysteries but I prefer them as less bloody and not gritty. Alas, this book was exactly the kind that left me depressed with how evil people can be.
7, A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khalid Hosseini
I believe that this is called general fiction which I usually don’t read much. It’s was very moving and great but again left me depressed with humanity.
8, Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes
This is science fiction but not adventure fiction which I usually read. However, this was another very moving book.
Just eight books this time. That’s what happens when I have a couple of hundred books in the TBR in genres which I tend to like.

Dracula was really good, wasn’t it? It took me a long time to finally get around to reading it because I kept thinking it would be too difficult but it really isn’t. It’s creepy and very readable.
