Do you remember the first book you bought for yourself? Or the first book you checked out of the library? What was it and why did you choose it?
No. However, I’m fairly certain it was one of these: a horse book which I devoured at the time, an Enid Blyton, or Nancy Drew book.
However, I remember the first English language book I bought for myself. It was a Forgotten Realms fantasy book: Darkwalker on Moonshae by Douglas Niles.

I’ve actually read Darkwalker on Moonshae … every now and again I still read me some nice fantasy.

Douglas Niles is not a familiar name – but the book sounds like a great read! I used to love Nancy Drew, but Enid Blyton’s books were always a little hard to find in this country – well, where I grew up anyway. Lately I’ve been picking up some of her books, trying to make up for lost time.
